Module 7: Solution Development II And Unintended Consequences
Students continue learning how to brainstorm solutions and expand their understanding of the solution space using the Others' Points of View and Solution Pivot strategies. At this point students have strategies for all stages of the double diamond problem solving heuristic, but problem solving isn’t finished once a solution has been implemented. Solutions need to be evaluated to measure their effectiveness and to see if they’re causing any unintended consequences. Understanding the unintended consequences related to a solution can lead to adjustments in the solution and/or improved solutions to similar problems in the future. Skilled problem solvers can anticipate unintended consequences before implementing a solution - this is known as risk assessment and will be discussed in the next module.
